Good Samaritan Saturday | cuddle + kind

“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” —Aesop

In hopes of talking less and doing more when it comes to helping others, I’ve started a series I’m calling Good Samaritan Saturday. On Saturday mornings, I’ll post a little something you can do to start your weekend out with positive vibes by helping to lift someone else up…

When Jen and Derek Woodgate watched a documentary on child hunger, they knew they had to do something about it. That day, cuddle + kind dolls were born. These ridiculously adorable little creatures are lovingly hand-knit and each one provides 10 meals to kids in need through the company’s partnership with World Food Program USA and Children’s Hunger Fund. They just successfully competed an indiegogo campaign for funding and are preselling their dolls through indiegogo until their website’s shop launches later this month.

At $55 a piece, these dolls are not cheap but their cuteness factor, high quality and desire to bring about social good make them worth talking about. The Woodgates are aiming to provide one million meals a year.

While too expensive for a “just because” gift, these little cuties would be great for the holidays or as a baby shower gift. It would be so stinking cute to watch a newborn grow in monthly pictures taken with one of these dolls!

I also love that each doll comes with a name, birthday, and a little back story. Chloe the bunny, for example, has this to say about herself: I love to hop in tall grass, my favourite food is cupcake frosting and my favourite word is “yes”! It feels so great to do something you’re proud of, don’t you agree? Let’s be best friends so we can inspire each other to do something awesome everyday.”

I can’t stop ooooohing and ahhhhing. And I also can decide which one is my favorite. Maybe the mermaid? I don’t know. What do you think?
