My Week Through Instagram

chillin like a villainThis girl… This girl! Her love for dumping bins is going strong, but now she’s added shelf clearing to her repertoire. Better yet, she figured out that she fits perfectly into the space she cleared and that it’s a really good place to fake snore.

I’m sorry, but I have a really hard time disciplining a toddler who smirks and looks at me through squinting eyes while fake snoring and stage whispering “I seeeeping!”

monster babyAt least we’re starting to make a little progress on cleaning the messes we make. In this shot she’s brushing her teeth and playing with her blocks as she picks them up, but you have to start somewhere, right? And with this stubborn little booger, I’ll take anything!

sister loveLuckily for her (and my sanity), she’s chock full of just as many unbearably sweet moments. She loves cuddling up to her big sister (cue melting). Sam can’t get enough of it. Luckily for Ellie, she can get out of just about any trouble (read: destroying Sam’s things) by hugging her sister and throwing in an “I yuv you, Bubba” for good measure.

merpeopleSam is finishing up her last few weeks of first grade and is in the midst of a hardcore mermaid obsession. She’s crazed about the Emily Windsnap book series (which is about a girl who is half human, half mermaid) and our life has become all mermaid all the time.

We started out drawing the main characters in the story, but it quickly turned into Sam and her “school boyfriend.” While she started to draw a narwhal (I don’t know about you, but that makes me laugh) I couldn’t help but take this shot. Notice how much bigger the girl’s crown is than the boy’s? She always needs to make sure everyone knows where they stand–which means she’s in charge. All the time. 😉

csaOn a totally unrelated note, we got the first crop share from our CSA this week. It’s so good! With all of the greens we’ve got right now, we have no excuse not to work them into breakfast, lunch and dinner–which will hopefully help my weight loss mission. Now if only I could consistently fit working out into my schedule!

Last but not least, I’ve got two great giveaways going this week:

  • $50 e-card to The Children’s Place, which would be absolutely perfect for stocking up on summer essentials for the kiddies–especially when you can use a discount code from to get more bang for your buck (ends Monday 6/10).
  • A Mikuti bangle from Favery (an awesome new jewelry community). Retailing at $120, Mikuti’s bangles are carried at Neiman Marcus and Urban Outfitters and have been featured in Mara Hoffman’s runway shows. They’re kind of fabulous–plus they’re both environmentally and socially conscious. I’m a huge fan! (ends Wednesday 6/12)
