It seems like it’s been forever since I did one of these posts, but it’s only been two weeks. Since there are so many shots that I want to show off, I’ll be a little light on the commentary for a change (well, because of how many pictures I have to choose from and because I have a rapidly approaching deadline for a freelance project).
There’s been lots of sister love going on in our house. Ellie has taken to asking her sister for kisses (or “kix”) and has started demanding that Sam sits next to her by patting the seat beside her and saying “‘mon, bubba. ‘Mon.” Can you tell Samantha absolutely loves this?
Ellie has also discovered the joys of Play Doh. Her favorite thing to do is pretend she’s cooking things for us. I spent the better part of an afternoon pretending to love or hate what she was cooking depending on whether she said “Mmmm” when she gave it to me or whether she said “Icky!”
She also really loves laying across my throat like a necklace when I try to get her to nap.
Thanksgiving shirt and Thanksgiving pigtails. It really doesn’t get any cuter!
I stole this one from my husband’s Instagram feed. We went to my in-laws on Thanksgiving day, where the girls continued their Play Doh loving. Ellie took a short break in making some Play Doh cookies to make a cheese face for daddy.
She also got her first professional manicure on that trip. I wish I remembered to take pictures! She picked out a blue sparkle polish (much to her sister’s delight) and sat in Nana’s lap while she got her nails done. She wasn’t sure of it at first, especially since the woman doing her nails was wearing a mask, but you could tell she was a big fan of the end result so she decided to put up with it. A diva in training, for sure!
(Side note: notice the dramatic change in picture quality? We finally got new phones!)
On Saturday we went to my mom’s for Thanksgiving. Sam and Jack got some lovey dovey cousin time in (and also fought like animals).
Notice the blue under Sam’s eyes? Yeah, that’s makeup. She dressed herself that day and aside from the football player-like eye smudges, she wore: a dress, two sweaters (ok, according to her a sweatshirt and a sweater), tights, leggings, sparkly shoes, and lots of jewels.
Ellie continues to be fascinated by her cousin Livvie. She likes to watch her move around and she likes to hug her and talk about her eyes (and try to touch them). She can be a little overzealous in her loving. For instance, she really likes to pat Liv’s belly. The problem is, her pats are sometimes more like the Heimlich maneuver. We have to watch that one!
Liv is teething right now so she made sure to schedule some time into her day to chew on her daddy’s nose. The cuteness is kind of unbearable. And those wrist rolls! You’d never know she was born six weeks early!
Ellie’s wrist rolls are disappearing a little too quickly for my liking. Not to say the girl doesn’t eat. Because my girl is a serious eater. She grabbed herself a (pretty large) brownie, cuddled up with her Rara and watched some TV.
That night, Ellie slept in her big girl bed for the first time. It makes me a little sad that she’s out of the crib, but it makes bedtime much easier for all of us. I play musical beds every night, but Ellie sleeps better already. And Sam can’t wait until the night they have a “sleepover” in her room.
We put up all of our Christmas stuff last Sunday. It was a lot of fun, especially since Ellie is much more aware of what’s going on this year. She just kept saying “preeeeetty” and pointing at the tree while Samantha used her best mommy voice to try and explain each and every thing we were doing. It was pretty much the sweetest thing ever.
While this shot is kind of adorable (another one stolen from my husband’s Instagram) and totally Samantha (she is our little detective/scientist/The Spanish Inquisition), can we talk about the fact that my husband is wearing Crocs and socks?
I was a little busy on Cyber Monday, as you can tell by a few of the boxes that have been delivered so far. I love a good deal and would much rather shop at home than drive around looking for parking spots all day just to go into overcrowded stores filled with grumpy people.
Plus, shopping with a toddler adds a whole new level of crazy. We went out yesterday to run some errands and go on a hunt for some things for my pal Aimee who had her baby on Wednesday (yay Aim!!!). Halfway through our extravaganza, Ellie started yelling and crying and being generally unpleasant.
She passed out on the (short) ride home and I somehow successfully transferred her from car to bed. You better believe I was not about to wrestle her jacket or shoes loose. My momma always told me not to mess with a sleeping baby and I always listen to my momma (well, usually).
