Oriental Trading Co ceramic ornament DIY

Oriental Trading Company provided me with product for review but all opinions (and drama) are my own.

My girls get their love of crafting from me. They also get their inability to finish projects before flitting off to another creative venture from me, but you can talk to my husband about that. I prefer to concentrate on the positive. Like making pretty ornaments for our tree and to gift to friends and family.

We got a few inches of snow dumped on us on Saturday and it was the perfect time to hunker down in front of the Christmas tree and get our craft on.

I ordered a set of ceramic ornaments and some clear round ornaments from Oriental Trading Company to have on hand for whenever my ladies get the crafting bug. I was really hoping to get them to make a few as Christmas presents, but have learned from experience that the second it turns into a task they are way less interested. So, we just sat and worked and listened to Ellie talk (and talk… and talk…) until the drama turned to high and one daughter stormed off while the other kept talking… and talking… and talking. So, you know, your pretty run-of-the-mill experience with kids.

When the ladies had both had enough for the day, I didn’t force them to finish or push them to keep going. Ain’t nobody got time for that. They enjoyed doing it. Why force it on them when they need a break? It will only make the whole project less fun. That said, I will definitely continue to nudge them towards the ornaments between now and Christmas. And if they don’t end up with a completely finished project in time, I’ve got a whole year to nudge before next Christmas. 😉

In the meantime, I’ll continue to de-stress by filling the round ornaments with confetti and writing happy words on them.

Looking for things to keep the kids busy over winter break?

Oriental Trading Company has lots of fun options in both their Christmas store and their Winter section. I like to stock up so that I always have supplies on hand for play dates and when faced with the dreaded I’m boooooooored. They also have site called Free Fun Christmas with printable coloring pages as well as recipe, craft, and decoration ideas.

Good luck, mommas. May the drama run low. 😉
