When I found out Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hosting the 2013 Golden Globes I was seriously excited. I mean, I’m always excited about awards shows. But two funny, smart women who genuinely like each other (and happen to be moms) leading the way? Count me in!
I don’t think there was nearly enough of those two ladies in the show last night (and they were definitely the best part), but there were plenty of other hot moms in the spotlight.
So instead of doing my usual best and worst of recap, I’m going to stick with the positive and show off my three favorite looks of the night–and they’re all gorgeous mommas.
Let’s start with my absolute favorite look of the night:
Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta
The girl looked amazing. I loved every last bit of this look. From the Jessica Rabbit hair to the bright lip, gorgeous jewels and unexpectedly furry clutch. And don’t even get me started on the perfection of that color for her. She’s been wearing a lot of coral-y colors lately and they are fantastic for her skin tone.
Also fabulous is the bodice of this dress. I love the sweetheart neckline and the darting that helps create the illusion of a more curvy shape. It’s beautiful and so is she. Score one for hot moms.
Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood
Mrs. Ben Affleck was also looking pretty amazeballs. I have a soft spot for this woman because after giving birth it takes her a little time to bounce back into shape. And she seems to be OK with that. We need more women in the spotlight like her. Normal ladies to look up to (because flat abs six weeks post baby is just not the norm).
But I digress. Jennifer Garner looks fantastic in this dress. Like Jessica Alba, she chose a color that is pretty much perfect for her. And sparkle? I love it! What looked like a pretty red dress turned into something absolutely gorgeous when the light hit it. I also like that she went light with the jewels. A big statement piece would’ve competed with the dress too much.
Score two for moms!
Claire Danes in Versace
I loved that Claire Danes’ look was pretty sleek and no fuss. The color looks really good on her and the halter shows off her arms. I loved the bit of gathering in the middle that made the dress a little more forgiving (the woman just had a baby not too long ago).
Like Jennifer Garner, Claire Danes kept the accessories simple and that worked for her (I just wish she left the makeup a little more simple). It wasn’t a big, show-stopping look, but I thought it was pretty perfect for her.
That, my friends, is what we call a hot mom hat trick.
For the most part, I found the looks last night pretty underwhelming. I didn’t realize until I was writing this post that my favorites were all in the red/orange family. That’s totally out of character for me. But there weren’t many best-dressed options, were there?
What look was your favorite last night?

Those ladies made me want to amp up the workouts stat!
Right?! I’m gonna have to make a hot moms of Hollywood inspiration shrine. Lol.
Jessica Alba looked beyond! She was one of my favorites too. Read my fashion recap here: http://www.babblingsofamommy.com/2013/01/2013-golden-globes-head-turners.html?m=1

The moms really did rock it! I also liked Julianne Moore and Amy Adams. More hot moms!
I absolutely loved Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey’s look. Modern sophistication has become her signature. Have a great week! ~Sarah
I thought her look was pretty cool too!
i love the vibrant colors on all of them!!!
Jennifer Garner is one of my faves – it’s so cute to see her and Ben together – they look so happy, don’t they? (hopefully they won’t get divorced next week, ha!) I loved Jessica Chastain and Julianne Moore – the redheads!
