I’m a big fan of simple steps that make a big impact. Whether it’s throwing on some accessories so that you don’t look like you were getting dressed with a child hanging from your torso or using coconut milk to make you feel like you’re on a tropical getaway, I’m all for it.
And I have to tell you, there are not many things that are simpler than slapping on some lip color. I absolutely love the idea of changing up your color to fit whatever mood you might be in that day (as long as they work with your skin tone, of course).
So I went on a little treasure hunt and picked out five different shades that will tell your friends what kind of mood you’re in before you say a word.
Flirty: Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Betsey
This bright, glossy balm is kind of perfect for days when you’re feeling a little bit sassy (as my six-year old likes to say). Bright and girly, it tells the world you’re upbeat and feeling playful.

Feeling a little romantic? Like you want to jump into the middle of a romcom and nuzzle against some stubble? A shimmery, rosey color is perfect for this mood. It’s feminine and subtle and oh-so pretty. Just as perfect for first dates as it is for the fiftieth date.

If you’re looking for some adventure, you can’t be bothered with finding a color that best suits your skin tone (nevermind your mood). If you’re feeling bold, what better way to yell it from the rooftops than with an in-your-face lip color? This particular color is semi-matte, which creates a stained look–pretty perfect for an opinionated lady that means business.
I’m actually thinking that I’m going to go with a lip color to match the mood I’m striving for today (bold, in case you’re curious). Just like putting on some great shoes or your power suit, the lip color you choose can give you that extra boost of confidence you need.

Hahaha! I did three loads too… only two of mine are still sitting in laundry baskets on the floor in my room and the third is sitting in the dryer. Maybe a little red lip will push me that extra bit? 😉
