I’m a little depressed (and, apparently, really dramatic). If you follow me on Instagram, you know that the girls and I have been obsessed with catching the sunset lately. We make sure we get down to the riverfront about a half hour before sunset so that we can watch the sun dip behind the mountains on the other side of the river.
I just Googled “sunset” to see what time we’d need to get there tonight and found that it sets at 4:48. 4:48! Curse you, daylight savings time!
I already feel myself sliding into hibernation mode. I want all of the cozy blankets, fuzzy socks, and comfort foods. And I don’t want to leave the house. I just want to curl up on my favorite spot on the couch and binge watch TV shows while nibbling a Klondike bar until there’s more sunlight and life on the trees again.
My husband and I are notorious binge watchers. Our version of date night is hunkering in for a good, long, TV marathon—with a sweet treat, of course. We have both Netflix and Amazon (but my beloved Mindy moving to Hulu has put a whole new wrench in things). Some of our recent favorites are Daredevil (Netflix), Transparent (Amazon), and Hand of God (Amazon). And we really can’t wait for Jessica Jones (Netflix, starting 11/20), Master of None (Netflix, starting 11/2), and With Bob and David (Netflix, starting 11/13).
We tear through entire seasons in no time—and I always treat myself while doing so. Sometimes it’s homemade ice cream sandwiches or a couple of squares of dark chocolate. Recently I was super excited to try out some Klondike bar varieties I didn’t even know existed.
I know (and love) the original vanilla, but did you know that they make other kinds? There are 12 different classic varieties (we tried Reese’s and mint chocolate chip, which were both big hits over here) plus a new line of Kandy Bars (the Fudge Krunch one is chocolate ice cream and their signature shell, but with a fudge sauce and a rice crispy coating. So good!).
And let me tell you, just because the temperature is dipping does not mean you can’t treat yourself to some ice cream. Whether you’re binge watching like my husband and I, or having friends over to watch some football, a Klondike bar is a quick and easy treat to curl up and enjoy—bonus points if you have a cozy fireplace!
OK, your turn! What’s your favorite thing to binge watch? And what do you treat yourself to while you do it?
