The people have spoken! And by the people, I mean our small but mighty group of book-hungry ladies. This month’s virtual book club pick is Jessica Knoll’s Luckiest Girl Alive!
In case you’re a major geek like me (and if you’re here, I’m kind of assuming you are), I decided this month to collect a bunch of info about the book and its author. It’s kind of my new favorite thing to do.
First, I poke around on social media like a total creepster. Jessica Knoll (like June’s author, Emma Straub) is pretty active around those parts. You can check her out on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I’m usually partial to Instagram because it’s a people watcher’s BFF.
Then I usually do a little Google search on both the title and the author, which is how I found out Jessica—I can call her that, right?—used to work for both Cosmo and SELF and that Reese Witherspoon is set to produce the movie adaptation (which, according to Facebook, Jessica is writing).
In case that’s not enough for you, I also found:
- An interview with Bustle
- An interview with SELF
- A great write up in the Los Angeles Review of Books
- A less great write up in EW
That should be a good start, no? If you find other fun stuff on the book or its author, feel free to drop it in the comments! And don’t forget to tag yourself reading the book on social media with our #paperbackposse hashtag.
Also, be sure to check back tomorrow for discussion questions for June’s book, The Vacationers. We’ll be talking about it over in the FB group for the rest of the week!
