We’ve had another week of gorgeous weather here in New York. Lots of sun and high-70 temperatures have us thinking we’ve skipped right to summer. So what do I think of when I think summer? Bathing suits!
I may have just turned 29, but I also happen to have two babies, leaving me with no desire to show my pregnancy ravaged stomach off to the masses. So instead of looking for cute bikinis, I’m on the hunt for a one piece that doesn’t look like it was made for my grandma.

bottom: Marc Jacobs, Seafolly
While I love the strapless options, I need a little more support than they offer–after all, I have no interest in falling out of my suit while chasing my girls around. I’m thinking a cute retro style is my best bet.
Which is your favorite?
Call me a dork, but I literally gasped when I first saw a photo of Jennifer Lawrence in the Prabal Gurung dress she wore to The Hunger Games premiere. This is not typically my kind of dress, but I absolutely love her in it! The cut, the fit, the seams–it’s seriously perfection!
I immediately started wondering if there was anything that even came close to it that a Real Girl could wear. I’m not really sure why this was a pressing question, considering I can’t imagine a single place I could have to go to where a sultry metallic dress would be a must, but I needed to know.
Splurge: ADAM, $200 / Steal: ASOS, $34
I’m sure people who know me will be shocked to hear this, but I’m kind of obsessed. Of course, the splurge is my favorite. I love the color and the paneling (as opposed to actual cutouts). But I can’t for the life of me figure out where I would wear a dress like this!
Where would you wear this dress?
While you think, I’m going to go do some lunges because the sight of Jennifer Lawrence’s butt in that dress is more than slightly depressing.
Temperatures were in the 60s here in New York yesterday and Al Roker promised me that next week will bring more of the same. This little kiss of warmth and sunshine has me all chipper and hunting through my closet for bright, cheery pieces.
shirt, pants, shoes, bracelet, necklace
My budget is a little on the tight side, so I’ll probably stick to shopping my closet and combining bright colors that I may not have thought of pairing together before–although Old Navy‘s stock up sale might be too good to pass up. That green shirt up there only costs $9!
What’s your spring go-to? This year, I’m definitely all about the color!
I usually love Marc Jacobs. But as I was flipping through Vogue last night, I was stopped in my tracks (and not in a good way) by these plastic metallic cowboy boots.
I have to tell ya. I’m not feeling them. I’m not so into cowboy boots in the first place, probably because I hate horses (don’t judge me!) and they automatically make me think of horses.
Add some clear plastic to the equation and you have boggled my mind, Marc Jacobs.
First of all, these are obviously not meant to be cowboy boots in the traditional sense. They’re city girl cowboy boots. And really, what’s the point in that?
Second of all they look like they’re trying to be a cowboy boot, bootie and rain boot all in one and it just isn’t coming together for me.
I want to know what you think. Maybe you can change my mind. But I think these are preeeeetty terrible.
