Dallas Clayton

Dallas ClaytonI am a sucker for unabashed optimism. While some people roll their eyes at people who spew sunshine and rainbows everywhere they go, I prefer to bask in their positive glow.

It feels good to be enveloped in things that are inspirational—especially when it’s stuff that isn’t unattainable (like, say, an immaculate, perfectly styled house or a supermodel’s body).

Dallas Clayton is a writer, illustrator and public speaker who does exactly that. He spreads bright, happy messages of positivity everywhere he goes, pushing people to be more present and to find happiness. I’m obsessed.

From writing children’s books with messages of dreaming big and doing good to creating products that remind us all of the same thing to leaving uplifting messages (and little gifts) out and about in the world, Dallas Clayton is the ultimate messenger of good vibes. His Instagram account is one of my favorites to follow because it’s fun and light and uplifting without leaving you feeling less than.

He has recently gone a spree painting bright, whimsical murals in people’s houses with his new friend/mascot the Encourager. I know a lot of people (like my husband) are rolling their eyes as they read this, but I find it so refreshing. I enjoy snark, but it’s everywhere. It’s nice to see someone work to spread messages of love and happiness.

I enjoy a good reality check once in awhile (which can tend to be heavy on the snark), but it’s nice to balance that out with warm messages of encouragement. They’re like a big hug.

Are you feeling all of the love and light? Or is all of this hippie dippy business not your thing? For me, I tend to either find myself in a place where I’m really heavy on the snark or I lost in the clouds with all of the good vibes. I try to maintain some sort of balance between the two, but lately those good vibes are what fuel me.
