DIY craft supply purge

DIY craft supply purgeHello. My name is Jen and I’m a craft supply hoarder. I do not discriminate. Fabric, yarn, beads, wire, stamps, paints, stencils. If you are a craft supply and you are cute, I probably feel a deep desire to add you to my hoard. I probably won’t do anything with you, but I have an overwhelming need to have you in my possession.

This isn’t exactly working for me. I’ve reached a point where I’m so overwhelmed with all of the stuff that I have that the idea of finding anything in particular makes me burst into a maniacal laugh. I just want to pat myself on the head like a good little pet and say “Ain’t she sweet? She thinks she can actually figure out what to do with this stuff!” The overload has also left me completely uninspired. Although, I guess maybe a better term would be over inspired. Each time my eye catches a different supply I want to do something else. I get so excited that I could almost burst and then I do nothing.

A part of me just wanted to get rid of stuff. Throw it out, give it away, whatever I could do to get it out of my sight as quickly as possible. But the cheap and eco-friendly parts of me just can’t bear to get rid of it. I don’t even want to think of the money I spent accumulating all of this stuff. Instead, I’ve decided to challenge myself.

I’m not going to buy any more craft supplies until I have completely cleared out the massive stash I have somehow collected.

Now that I’ve said it, it has to happen, right?

I want to slowly but surely sift through my supplies every week until I have nothing left and I’m going to take you guys along for the ride with a bunch of DIYs.

I’m hoping that this little project will not only help clear out my stash, but it will give me a little creative inspiration. I’ve been so overloaded with inspiration lately that I feel like all of my ideas are coming from other people. Forcing myself to work with very specific supplies will make me get creative in new ways and I’m kind of excited.

Now I was going to catalog all of the supplies that I have and itemize them so that you can help keep me accountable and we can 1) see just how much of a hoarder I am and 2) keep tabs on my progress. The problem is, ain’t nobody got time for that. I absolutely, one hundred percent do not have the time to sit down and count the number of beads or rolls of washi tape currently in my possession. It is impossible. Let’s just agree that there’s a lot, ok?

Let’s also agree that they’re not arranged very neatly. Maybe I’ll work on that too. But probably not. For now, you can just expect to have Tuesdays taken over by my supply purge and lots of DIY goodness.

Is there anything that you collect? Does it get overwhelming like my collection or do you keep it in check? Tell me your secrets!!!
