geek chic fashion via Cuddles and Chaos

So, this should surprise no one, but… I’m kind of a geek. And as a geek, I’m attracted to geeky fashion. If there’s anything whimsical or any kind of typography involved (oh hey, Kate Spade!) I am so in. And I’ll probably do a whole lot of squealing.

I also happen to love the combination of something casual and ranking kind of high on the nerd scale with something more feminine, like an a-line skirt. I like to call this combination geek chic (mostly because my inner word nerd loves the way it sounds).

Take this look, for example…

clockwise from top left: Print Liberation t-shirt, Warby Parker glasses, Piano Bench Designs necklace, Kate Spade The Glass is Half Full idiom bangle, Kate Spade bag, Lace-up heels via ModCloth, Gipsy French back seam tights via ASOS, River Island skater skirt via ASOS

First of all, let me just say that this t-shirt was made for me. Also, back seam tights are awesome. Add some retro shoes, a twirly skirt and talking accessories and you can color me smitten.

What I love is the combination of quirk and polish. It lets the geek flag fly without the need of a serious fashion intervention. And you get your whimsy without looking like you rolled out of bed and put on whatever was clean (even if that’s exactly what you did).

So. Are you feeling the geek chic fashion? Which piece is your favorite?

PS I don’t need glasses, but if I did you can bet I’d be inspired by Lisa Loeb circa 1994.
