Ah, back-to-school season.
My daughter starts school on Monday and I’m not going to lie, it can’t come fast enough. Don’t get me wrong, I love that girl to death but she needs structure. She needs to have a schedule and to know exactly what will be happening and to be busy and surrounded by other kids. She’s pretty much bored out of her mind at this point and driving me completely insane.
Also driving me completely insane is my inability to get anything done without being interrupted 97 times and then grumped at because I still haven’t completed task one. I’m hoping that with school starting up, I’ll be able to start a fresh, clean slate.
Am I the only one who gets all New Years Resolution-y in September? I suddenly want all of the organization. I want to clean and declutter and get my act together. I want to get back on track.
It just so happens that I noticed a bunch of posts across the blogosphere (and Pinterest) that centered around three of the things I want to work on the most.
Budget:
Joanna and Johnny from Our Freaking Budget told me that I totally need a budget (ok, maybe they didn’t specifically tell me, but I exhibit all of the signs they listed so I felt like they were speaking to me directly). Luckily they have shared how to do that. Check out budgeting part one and budgeting part two if you need as much help as I do. Also, have you heard of debt snowballing? Because these guys have me totally scratching my chin in that “Tell me mooooore” kind of way.
Organization:
Chelsey at The Paper Mama put together an amazeballs calendar work station for Better Homes and Gardens this week. I love how it takes up so little space and how it contains all of your essentials—perfect for a back-to-school homework center. Speaking of which, Amanda at Dude Mom shared her brand spankin’ new homework command center this week too. If I can take even a couple of tips from them to tackle my mess, I’ll be the happiest girl on earth.
Health:
Yeah, momma needs to get her butt in gear. I’ve totally fallen off of my healthy living bandwagon and have the belly jiggle to prove it. I need to get back onto some sort of walking/30 Day Shredding schedule. And fast.
Also completely necessary is eating way better than I have been. I stumbled across an old Lauren Conrad post on flat belly foods that I’m totally going to be eating more of. I also need to cut back on the sugar intake. Sweet Jesus I love chocolate, but I don’t love that it hangs out in my midsection and wears out its welcome. I’m thinking I need to do some sort of challenge. I’m throwing around the idea of the clean eater’s no sugar challenge in hopes of ditching the addiction.
