It’s been awhile since I’ve done a fashion post. I’d love to blame a lot of things. Life. The weather. Moving. Lack of funds for new, fun wardrobe pieces. But the truth is that I’m lazy.
All of these things played a part in my laziness—I mean, who wants to put in the effort to get all fancy when you know you’re going to be an oily, sweat-stained mess by the end of the day? And who wants to pore over drool-worthy fashion when you know you can’t even afford the knockoff?
Still, at the root of that is lazy. I’m capable of putting in an effort. And I can shop my own closet to try and play off the pin-worthy looks I see splashed across the internet.
But I’ve been lazy. And I’d love to squash that. I just need some sort of inspiration to do something other than throw on my current uniform (jeans, v-neck, flip flops and a ponytail).
When I saw this shot of Olivia Munn in a lace dress with a bustier top by Michael Kors I thought, Holy Hotness. Who wouldn’t want to look like that?! My husband would literally shit himself if I emerged from getting ready for a date night looking like this.
My favorite part is that the lace and the length of the skirt counter the sexiness of the top so that you don’t end up looking like a $5 hooker. Instead you look like a sexy lady. Not a sexy broad, but a sexy lady. I also love that she went incredibly light on the accessories, as if to say the outfit speaks for itself. Because, uh, it does.
Here’s how a real girl with a paltry budget can create something similar.
bustier, Nasty Gal / lace pencil skirt, Brigitte Bailey / nude pumps, Dorothy Perkins
Obviously, the top I found is black and has straps. Why? Well, it’s not exactly easy to find a nude-colored strapless bustier that looks like it was meant to see daylight. But I think the one I found accomplishes the same thing as the top of her dress: it’s sexy without being too in your face. It definitely loses something without the satin, the nude color and the black piping, but it’s still pretty fabulous if you ask me.
And even if I don’t ever end up wearing anything that remotely resembles this, it’s at least a small step out of fashion laziness, right?
Linking up with Monday Mingle and Monday Bloom.
I still feel that being lazy every once in while is totally ok. But that outfit is gorgeous!
I agree— only for me it’s no longer every once in awhile but an every day thing 😉 I need to get back into the caring what I look like zone!
That is such a sexy look! Want to try this one, too. Thanks for sharing!
Visiting from the linkup. I’d love for you to come over by blog too and leave your thoughts on my latest post: http://www.fashchronicles.blogspot.com
I wish I could afford her exact look— LOVE the top of that dress. But alas, it ain’t gonna happen!
