I think you can tell from some of my recurring series (Local Love and Girl Boss, to name two) that I’m a big fan of small businesses and people who find something they’re passionate about and make it work. I also have a soft spot for New York’s Hudson Valley which just so happens to be where I live and which is bubbling with creative awesomeness.
While putting together gift guides for the holidays, I realized it would be crazy to miss out on tapping into some of that local goodness. There are so many talented makers out there and the little guys deserve the spotlight just as much as those with a bigger budget do.
So, I gathered a list of a few of my favorite local makers whose pieces would be perfect for gift giving any time of year to put together a Hudson Valley gift guide that’s bursting with local makers.
I was going to leave it at that, but I think these guys deserve a closer look, don’t you?
Tiny Little Nest paper cut bear print (Poughkeepsie, NY)
Kendra Shedenhelm birds kissing tribal pattern sunset bag (Croton-on-Hudson, NY)
Bean Bear Creations Lego travel box (Yorktown Heights, NY)
Three Sisters Herbals healthy you gift set (Hyde Park, NY)
Little Miss Moffitt’s Creations stuffed reindeer (Millbrook, NY)
Skin Nourishment Co. naughty list soap (Highland, NY)
Destination Adorable shabby rose bow headband (Yorktown Heights, NY)
COCOandLI tea tree and bergamot cold pressed soap with activated bamboo charcoal (Westchester)
If that wasn’t enough local goodness for you, you have to check out the Unique Ladies of the Hudson Valley $50 and under gift guide put together by Yvonne of Tiny Little Nest and Yvonne Laube Designs. It’s filled with great gift ideas that aren’t outrageously expensive.
If you have a favorite Hudson Valley maker that I left out, tell me in the comments so I can check them out too!
