Introducing the Majestically Awkward Podcast! Episode One

Ahhhhh! I’m so nervous and excited to announce the first ever Majestically Awkward podcast episode!

Janine and I have been friends since the fourth grade and we share the unique quality of being able to turn any situation into a really awkward one. We giggle nervously when the appropriate response is more like horror or sadness. We say the wrong things in an effort to make other people less uncomfortable. We have verbal diarrhea when we should just keep our mouths closed. We’re majestically awkward.

We’re also really huge podcast nerds (check out some of my favorite podcasts that are under thirty minutes).

One day we decided that we should start our own podcast. After months of halfhearted “planning” (read: coffee dates) we decided to just do this thing. My husband jumped on board to moderate us and keep us from going down deep dark holes of content that will make sense to no one but us. He’s also helping with the technical stuff because, to be honest, Janine and I just want to talk.

The result is an amusing exploration of awkwardness that will get better with age.

So what is the Majestically Awkward podcast about?

Think of it as your two really awkward friends discussing things both personal and societal that are pretty freaking awkward.

The podcast is not specifically about motherhood, but we will regularly discuss things that relate to being a mom (as well as things that relate to choosing not to be a mom, like Janine has).

We do not recommend listening to us with children in the room (in fact, we wait until mine are in bed before we record). We discuss topics that they don’t need to hear about and we refuse to censor our potty mouths in the middle of passionate debates.

Please remember that this episode is our first experience with podcasting from the other side. We’re dipping our toes into a brand new medium and there will be some growing pains as we figure it all out. That said, we’re pretty freaking excited.

Majestically Awkward podcast | Episode 1: Sexy Twizzlers

This week, we did a Mom vs Non-Mom segment talking about what annoys each of us about the other side (Jen has two daughters, Janine is happy with her furbaby). We also discussed sexy Halloween costumes that shouldn’t exist (for more on that, I have a whole post on Halloween costumes I would never wear) and delivered a metaphorical face punch. To end things on a positive note, we also crowned a (s)hero of the week.
