Paperback Posse June | virtual book club pick The VacationersWe have a winner!

June’s virtual book club pick is Emma Straub’s The Vacationers (note: the paperback is coming out on June 2nd!).

I have a little secret. Promise not to get your panties in a twist? I read this one already.

I kept hearing about it last summer when I was in the middle of trying desperately to get back into reading. My little people and freelance work and trying to be a human made my once-beloved past time seem kind of impossible. But I decided I would slowly dip my toes back in the reading pool.

This book sucked me in and erased any thoughts of a slow, leisurely immersion. I loved that it was light and perfect for a beach read—which is essential when you’re trying to squeeze in a chapter here and there around everyone else’s schedule and before you can no longer keep your eyes open at night. I also loved that the observations in it dug a whole lot deeper than you expect a beach read to do.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, this book is absolutely perfect for a book club with a description like ours:

A virtual book club for busy ladies looking to fit reading in. Sometimes they finish the book, sometimes they don’t. Either way, we still have fun.

Our Facebook group is where the real fun happens, so make sure to request to join and I’ll add you! We’re an incredibly laid back bunch. I think you’ll like us.
