I’m taking a break from my radio silence this week to give you a little peek at what we’ve been up to. I finally finished my painting extravaganza last Tuesday and spent the rest of the week and the whole weekend packing and moving.
And let me tell those of you who haven’t done it before: moving with kids is no joke. It’s hard enough on its own, but when you add all of the junk kids collect (including the scraps of paper and dusty old bits unearthed from under the bed that you have no way of knowing are of the utmost importance) it’s a whole new ballgame.
So what do you do? You pack some toys and some snacks, cross your fingers and hope for the best.
It went relatively smoothly. We’re still working on figuring out how to fit all of our stuff into a smaller living space, but we’ll get there. And I’d be lying if I said my parenting was perfect throughout. There was definitely a day when I totally spaced on giving the girls lunch (oops). Don’t worry though, Samantha will make sure I don’t forget it—or the fact that she hasn’t had any fun because unpacking is booooor-ing—for the rest of my life. 😉
One awesome discovery we made during the whole process was the deliciousness of Green Giant veggie chips. We’re a big fan of veggie straws in general, but these new chips may have stolen a place in our hearts as #1.
Green Giant sent us a couple of bags (the garden ranch roasted veggie tortilla chips and the barbecue multigrain sweet potato chips) to try out and I grabbed one during one of our hectic mad dashes for the door.
We headed on over to the new place with boxes and everything in tow. I laid out some toys and unpacked as they played. As soon as tensions rose and a major meltdown was imminent, I tore open a bag and had them try some.
Let’s just say they were a huge hit (and sanity saver). Even Samantha, who holds the title of World’s Pickiest Eater, was crazy about the ranch flavor. So crazy, in fact, that she hasn’t stopped crawling up my tush to buy a new bag. I will, I’m just sort of in the middle of moving right now. If you’re interested in trying them out they have a coupon you can print (this cheap momma is a huge fan of those!).
So yeah, toys and snacks were kind of my saviors for the last couple of weeks.
Also on my list are empty boxes, super helpful friends, and highly organized packing. It is so much easier to unpack when you make sure to organize and label things well while you’re packing. We can’t find my phone charger because it got packed in one of the last boxes when we were just throwing things anywhere in an effort to get things going. Boooooo.
Do you have any moving tips? I probably should have asked before I moved, but maybe your tips can help other clueless fools like me!

Yayy congratulations on the moving! Always so good when you can get a couple of extra hands (albeit a little small)! I just moved to a new place too, and doing 10 trips up and down from the car to the apartment is no easy feat when it’s done alone!
