Inspirational quotes: let go

I’m having one of those weeks. You know the kind.

My husband’s working a lot and was out of town for part of the week. Boo. Then there’s the fact that I have a few major deadlines sneaking up quickly. Better yet, the deadlines are preparing to explode in a glorious fire show with some major life changes in the not-so-distant future (with a side of summer vacation and birthday party planning mixed in for good measure).

And if you follow me on Instagram, you saw that Ellie has decided she’s an artist this week. Her medium of choice is markers (which are not nearly as washable as they claim) and she thinks her work should be displayed everywhere: her body, our bookshelves, her kitchen, the walls. I take them away, she finds some that she has stashed somewhere. I take those away, she goes all MacGyver and breaks into her sister’s room to steal hers.

All of this has piled on top of me like mattresses on top of the princess’s pea and I am one cranky mess. I haven’t taken it nearly as gracefully as the princess. I’m short with the girls and even shorter with anyone else who dares cross my path.

It’s times like this–every few months or so–that I need to take a nice, deep breath and flood myself with positivity. I go to my Inspiration board on Pinterest, where I collect inspirational quotes I come across. Most of them are pretty, featuring awesome typography and gorgeous design. One of these days I’m going to hang my favorites in my home so they’re forced on me.

Maybe that will make me take a step back and realize that I can’t be and do all things for all people all of the time…
