So today I’ve gone a little polka dot crazy. Just a little. But come on. Who doesn’t love them?

Whimsical and feminine, they’re the perfect way to dip your toes into the print pool if you usually stay solid.

Pattern crazed? Polka dots are also perfect for mixing with other prints because, like stripes, they can be used as a sort of neutral.

I put together 3 looks that incorporate fall’s hottest trends and my favorite print of the moment…

Edgy FeminineEdgy Feminine with Polka Dots

Victoria’s Secret motorcycle jacket, $258 :: Tacori jewelry :: Zara blouse, $60 :: Red Valentino ruffle skirt, $675 :: BCBG Max Azria suede platform boots, $73 ::  Cara Accessories black bangle, $68

I love softening up what would otherwise be an incredibly feminine look (think polka dots and soft, dreamy skirts like the ones above) with a motorcycle jacket and other edgy accessories.

Mixing PrintsMixing Prints

Zara tee, $5.99 :: H&M straight leg jeans, $31 :: J Crew drape cardigan, $158 :: ASOS zip bag, $61 :: Michael Kors beaded leather bracelet, $45 :: Bakers flats, $30

This is how you mix fall’s hottest prints without looking like you belong in the circus! None of the pieces are too bold and all of the colors work together harmoniously.

Professional Color Blocking

Wyatt Peasant top, $98 :: DiamonArt stud earrings, $100 :: Juicy Couture leather wrap bracelet, $68 :: Bling Candy cardigan, $50 :: Pia tote bag, $248 :: Ann Taylor wide leg pants, $98 :: ALDO suede heels, $55

Who says your work look has to be boring? By incorporating bright pops of color and fun polka dots to a neutral, businesslike palette, you can add a little personality to your professional look.

How do you feel about polka dots? Are you going to stock up while they’re hot?

**side note: I’d like to dedicate this post to my polka dot loving pal Janine who is having surgery today. I hope I could give you a little retail therapy, Nini… just don’t tell Chris it was me 😉 Feel better soooon!
