A Little Spring In My Step

Temperatures were in the 60s here in New York yesterday and Al Roker promised me that next week will bring more of the same. This little kiss of warmth and sunshine has me all chipper and hunting through my closet for bright, cheery pieces.

shirt, pants, shoes, bracelet, necklace

My budget is a little on the tight side, so I’ll probably stick to shopping my closet and combining bright colors that I may not have thought of pairing together before–although Old Navy‘s stock up sale might be too good to pass up. That green shirt up there only costs $9!

What’s your spring go-to? This year, I’m definitely all about the color!

Lust List

Ahhh window shopping. You can be so fulfilling and so depressing all at the same time. It’s fun to look at things you’d buy if you could, but it’s way to easy to fall into a “Boooo! I can never afford that!” hole.

So instead, I’ll take one of each… as long as someone else is picking up the tab!

Layered Necklace Love

I’m kind of an accessories freak. I hoard them, I make them, I window shop online for them. I mean, accessories are pretty awesome. They can effortlessly transform any outfit.

Lately I find myself drooling over layered necklaces, especially those that have a few different textures. I’m  loving pieces that use some combination of beads, chain, ribbon and rhinestones. They’re fun and interesting and add a nice little pop to an otherwise bland look.

Gorgeous, right? And it’s actually really easy to transform pieces that you have into this style.

The simplest way is by tying a piece of ribbon to each end of a necklace and then tying it around your neck with a cute little bow.

You can also attach a chain to one of your old necklaces by hooking the necklace’s clasp to the chain on one end and then opening the ring on the other end of the necklace (you can use needle-nose pliers, but be sure to pull the metal to the sides rather than apart. It’s easier to keep the circle’s shape that way) and attaching to the chain there as well.

Let me know if you give it a try!

Lace Week: Jewelry

I don’t know about you, but jewelry is one of the last things I think about when I think of lace. I think lingerie, bridal gowns, and sexy cocktail dresses.

But lately I’ve been seeing more and more lace or lace-inspired pieces of jewelry that have caught my eye.

Take a look:

I’m kind of loving this idea, especially when paired with a simple, classic outfit. It adds a little fun, a little bit of texture, and a bohemian kind of vibe.

What do you think? Are you liking it or are you into more simple and classic pieces?

I looooove druzy right now! It’s basically a thin layer of little crystals on top of another stone that adds a little bit of whimsy and a whole lot of sparkle. I can’t get enough!

We all know I’m kind of obsessed with sparkle, but this is like a little sprinkle of fairy dust that you adorn yourself with (bonus: you don’t leave a glitter trail that people can track you down with).

I just love the raw, organic look of these! What do you think?

about the momma

Hi! I'm Jen, a freelance writer and girl mom who loves reading the newest children’s books as much as I love a good psychological thriller. I believe fiercely in the power of kindness, empathy, and really good quality chocolate. When I'm not knee-deep in glittery crafts and girl talk, you can probably find me sprawled out on my couch in the middle of a Netflix marathon with dark chocolate smeared on my face. The struggle is real. Learn more about me here.
