Beauty, Giveaways, self care

LOVE GOODLY Giveaway!

promoting wellness and self care

promoting wellness and self care

I’m a little bit obsessive about promoting wellness and self care. Especially for busy, over-worked, trying-to-do-it-all mommas. I may stumble as much as the next girl (most notably when my best frenemy sugar is involved), but I try to live my best life—and encourage you to do the same.

For me, that means using as many natural, nontoxic products as much as possible—which is why I’m a tiny bit obsessed with green cleaning and DIY beauty products. It’s also why I love LOVE GOODLY, a cruelty-free, eco, nontoxic bimonthly subscription box service that donates 5% of each purchase to a charitable cause.

I’m a guest editor over on their blog today. To celebrate, I’m giving you guys two spoilers for what’s sure to be an awesome first anniversary box this August/September (shipping 8/15). I’m also hosting a little giveaway.

Beauty, self care, Treat Yo Self

Treat Yo Self | LOVE GOODLY Box

love goodly box

Hey girl. Treat Yo Self is a series (inspired by my beloved Parks and Rec) that focuses on inexpensive indulgences that make you feel good without feeling guilty. Because when momma’s not happy, nobody is happy.

OK, today’s #TREATYOSELF feature could not get any better because you’re not only treating yourself, but it’s cruelty free, socially conscious and helps out a charity partner. WHAT?!

Gifts for Social Good

gifts for social good

I’m about to do a lot of shopping today and, I don’t know about you, but I’d like to see all of that money I’m spending do a little good in the world.

I’ve rounded up some beautiful products that are made and sold by socially conscious companies that are doing their best to give back. Some of them help educate and support artisans and practice free trade, others make sure their materials are sustainable. All of them are awesome! 😉

Pajama Program fundraiser | mini acro stars

What a whirlwind weekend! My first Pajama Program fundraiser was on Saturday at The Dance Workshop—and it was awesome! We had 20 kids come out for an open mat event to practice their tumbling and acro skills. Each of the kids paid a registration fee that will go directly to Pajama Program and brought books or pajamas to donate to the organization. They also crafted their little hearts out, making bookmarks to donate to the kids Pajama Program helps and won books autographed by local authors.

Good Samaritan Saturday

Good Samaritan Saturday | Pajama Program

Pajama Program | child with books

“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” —Aesop

In hopes of talking less and doing more when it comes to helping others, I’ve started a series I’m calling Good Samaritan Saturday. On Saturday mornings, I’ll post a little something you can do to start your weekend out with positive vibes by helping to lift someone else up…

Pajama Program | child with books

In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, or maybe you’re new here—HI!—and you haven’t heard: I’m planning not one, not two but three fundraisers for Pajama Program between today and December 11th.

I came across this organization after creeping around the internet a little to find an organization to give back to this holiday season. I’ve mentioned it plenty of times, but it’s really important to me to teach my girls to be giving and to do my best to shape them into kind humans—which, for the record, they totally are. Having them watch and help and learn more about organizations that are doing good just seems like a really good jumping off point to me.

An organization that gives kids in need books and warm sleepwear to “fulfill every child’s right to a good night” pulls at my heart strings in just about every way imaginable. When I looked into their website a little further and learned the organization was started by a Fordham graduate (go Rams!) who lives right here in Westchester, I was pulled in even deeper. Then I got a chance to speak to Genevieve Piturro, the founder of the organization, and my heart kind of exploded.

about the momma

Hi! I'm Jen, a freelance writer and girl mom who loves reading the newest children’s books as much as I love a good psychological thriller. I believe fiercely in the power of kindness, empathy, and really good quality chocolate. When I'm not knee-deep in glittery crafts and girl talk, you can probably find me sprawled out on my couch in the middle of a Netflix marathon with dark chocolate smeared on my face. The struggle is real. Learn more about me here.
