OK ladies. Do me a favor here. Explain to me the fur obsession. I just don’t get it!

Even when assuming that all of it is fake (which is sadly not the case), I don’t understand the attraction. I’m totally with you on loving soft, cozy, warm pieces and pieces that add a little texture.

But almost all of these fur pieces that are floating around in stores and on fashion bloggers everywhere are… dare I say it? Kind of hideous.

First of all, they’re almost always boxy. And in my opinion, that’s never attractive. Who wants their shape almost completely stripped from them? Not this girl!

Next, they’re often ratty looking. Even the expensive pieces. My hair is wild and frizzy enough. I don’t need an article of clothing that needs to be tamed as well.

And lastly, do you really want to walk around looking like a cave woman with an animal strapped to your back? I just don’t see anything glamorous about the things.

Granted, there have been other trends that I was totally against that I slowly and madly fell in love with (I’m talking to you, oxfords!). But I don’t think this is one I’m budging on.

Whether on the red carpet or walking her dog, I always adore Kate Bosworth’s style. No matter how you feel about her waif-like frame (I happen to be more of a fan of the Blue Crush athletic bod than her bony phases), you have to admit the girl’s got style.

I love how easy and laid back this look is, perfect for running to the farmer’s market or taking the kids to the park on a chilly fall weekend.

The sweater I showed here is obviously more of an investment piece, but it can be mixed and matched with so many different things. Plus, it looks so cozy and comfy, I’m sure it would become a favorite.

I’m a huge fan of cardigans, so this look is totally up my alley. Would you wear it?

I have to admit, I was a little reluctant with some aspects of this trend (I’m talking to you, oxfords). But I’m kind of in love with it right now.

My concern at first was looking more masculine than I wanted to. But, as all the looks above show, color and accessories can help. Heels, details like bows and feminine prints, and showing a little skin all instantly pump a nice dose of femininity into the trend.

So today I’ve gone a little polka dot crazy. Just a little. But come on. Who doesn’t love them?

Whimsical and feminine, they’re the perfect way to dip your toes into the print pool if you usually stay solid.

Pattern crazed? Polka dots are also perfect for mixing with other prints because, like stripes, they can be used as a sort of neutral.

Edgy Feminine

I love softening up what would otherwise be an incredibly feminine look (think polka dots and soft, dreamy skirts like the ones above) with a motorcycle jacket and other edgy accessories.

This is how you mix fall’s hottest prints without looking like you belong in the circus! None of the pieces are too bold and all of the colors work together harmoniously.

Who says your work look has to be boring? By incorporating bright pops of color and fun polka dots to a neutral, businesslike palette, you can add a little personality to your professional look.
