I can’t really allow a major awards ceremony to slip by without at least some mention of it—and the fashion that has me glued to the TV and Twitter and the interwebs in general as I oooooh and aaaaah and WTF all of the dress choices.
Still, there’s a part of me that wants to say screw it. It’s sort of done to death and if you can’t think of a fresh angle, why bother?
In an attempt to change it up at least slightly, I’ve put together a few categories of my own.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a fashion post. I’d love to blame a lot of things. Life. The weather. Moving. Lack of funds for new, fun wardrobe pieces. But the truth is that I’m lazy.
All of these things played a part in my laziness—I mean, who wants to put in the effort to get all fancy when you know you’re going to be an oily, sweat-stained mess by the end of the day? And who wants to pore over drool-worthy fashion when you know you can’t even afford the knockoff?
Still, at the root of that is lazy. I’m capable of putting in an effort. And I can shop my own closet to try and play off the pin-worthy looks I see splashed across the internet.
But I’ve been lazy. And I’d love to squash that. I just need some sort of inspiration to do something other than throw on my current uniform (jeans, v-neck, flip flops and a ponytail).
When I saw this shot of Olivia Munn in a lace dress with a bustier top by Michael Kors I thought, Holy Hotness. Who wouldn’t want to look like that?! My husband would literally shit himself if I emerged from getting ready for a date night looking like this.
When I found out Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hosting the 2013 Golden Globes I was seriously excited. I mean, I’m always excited about awards shows. But two funny, smart women who genuinely like each other (and happen to be moms) leading the way? Count me in!
I don’t think there was nearly enough of those two ladies in the show last night (and they were definitely the best part), but there were plenty of other hot moms in the spotlight.
So instead of doing my usual best and worst of recap, I’m going to stick with the positive and show off my three favorite looks of the night–and they’re all gorgeous mommas.
