I realize this might fall under the “too much information” category for a lot of people. But I don’t care. If you’re not feeling it, check back tomorrow instead, when boobs won’t be center stage (but vintage luggage will!).
Since 1991, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action has been celebrating World Breastfeeding Week as a way to promote and support breastfeeding worldwide. As a breastfeeding momma myself, I thought it would be fitting to do a post about it this week.
There are a lot of people out there who think it’s gross or weird, but I think it’s one of the most beautiful and natural things in the world. Humans have been doing it for millions of years.
If you’re able to do it, I don’t quite understand why you wouldn’t considering all of the health benefits linked with breastfeeding (not the least of which being the fact that you pass your immunities to your little bundle).
I love that supermodel Miranda Kerr posted the photo at the top of her breastfeeding her son Flynn (taken by proud papa Orlando Bloom) on her Kora Organics blog. Even though you see more of her in her Victoria’s Secret photos, some people were put off by this sweet photo. I just don’t get it!
What do you think about the issue?
I love it! Power to the women that can breastfeed.. My son Brady is 4mths old and I am a proud breastfeedig momma. Its definitely not easy all of the time but for me its worth that extra effort. Thanks for sharing Jenn!
Thanks for weighing in, Jenn!
Ellie is four months old now too. And I agree with you: it’s not always easy or convenient but it’s totally worth the effort!
As a dietetics student, I’ve learned about some of the benefits of breastfeeding, and I’m totally supportive of it! It’s free too… Nice job Jen! 🙂
Great point, Bailey! Free is an added bonus!
Also, we’ve said it’s not always easy but there are definitely times when it’s wonderfully easy (like in the middle of the night when all you have to worry about is lifting your shirt!).
BTW if anyone is interested in sharing your breastfeeding photo a la Miranda Kerr, email it to me at jennifergarrydesigns@gmail.com— and be sure to include whether or not you want your name/location posted with it.
I think the photos are truly beautiful! My daughter is getting ready to have her first any day now and can’t wait to breast feed…I did, and it was the most amazing experience of my life…………………Thanks so much for sharing!!!
